As part of a university module myself and five other people (see credits below) have created a rogue like game in XNA.
The basic principle of the game was for the player to explore dungeons killing monsters to collect their souls. These souls can then be used to allow the player to forfeit the current dungeon they are in refilling their health but reducing their score; forcing the player to decide between more health or a greater score. Each dungeon that the player finds themselves in is procedurally generated on the fly, meaning the player has a new level to explore each time they play.
